Oil / Fuel Adulteration

Oil / Fuel Adulteration in India is a pure result of supply chain mismatch. Their is huge demand of fuel for home, transport and other purpose, while its supply at certain levels and certainly and rural level is not up to mark as required, thus resulting in finding some substitute or adulteration of oil or fuel.

More on it, now the days as the petrol and diesel pricing is not controlled by Indian Government, international impact on pricing is much and  resulting in high priced fuel for end users based on international market price. This is also one the reason people finds the low cost solution and thus adulteration.

At many of rural places you can easily find auto, bikes and even trucks using part of kerosene as their main fuel. Recently I visited “Achalpur”, I had the shared auto from station to my relatives house, he said 15 rupeya, I said 10, he simply replies… sahab, kerosene bhi 30 rupeya hogaya hai aur petrol toh pucho mat 70 rupeya hai.

I think, its a self discipline which can help us in reducing oil / fuel adulteration. One should avoid cases of oil / fuel adulteration.

Need of Water: Why in summer only?

Need of Water: Why in summer only?

Why do we feel need of water only in summer??? Why we don’t think of saving water when we have it?
Why don’t we follow “prevention is better than cure policy” ? Don’t we follow this is other part of life, dont we?

Save water is not at event, its a process that should be carried upon across the life. Its need of human being, its need of every animal on the earth.

Also, now its time to try to find out best utilization and storage of water. Human being needs to get into business of saving water for future. He needs to save rain water as it is only source of water.
Its said, earth is covering about 77 percent of water, but its of what use? Can it be used to give mere 10% of water in human body? NO, it can’t be.

Try a bit to get a big. Its a simple method to have a good future.

Climate change impact on hill agriculture and farmers adaptive strategies

This study conducted during January- March, 2007, in the Kullu Valley of Himachal Pradesh in India, takes the apple as an indicator crop to investigate the positive and negative effects of climate change on farm economy. It explores the impacts it had on the agricultural economy of the hill farmers who were forced to abandon apple farming, and those to whom apple farming came to be a new option.

This research attempts to piece together and aims to enhance understanding of climate change impacts as observed by farming communities at very local levels.

The findings showed that the apple belt was shifting upwards due to climbing regional temperatures, making the lower parts of the valley unsuitable and the upper valley hospitable for the apple crop.

Indian sugar mills generate as much ‘green’ energy as windmills, and at half the cost

* Sugar mills produce 2,000 megawatt of biomass-based energy through cogeneration, says a new report. Cogeneration means the production of two forms of energy, electricity and heat
* Sugar mills are making a profit selling power to the grid. They can produce 5,100 mw of power – 69 per cent of the country’s total cogeneration capacity
* Such alternatives to fossil fuel energy are critical for India’s energy and climate security
* But lack of policy and pricing issues threaten the sustainability of this green power
